What is the Water Stewardship Simulation?
The Water Stewardship Simulation offers a unique opportunity to explore the interconnected relationships between water, energy, food production, industry, communities and the environment, and the real-world challenges of managing water resources in a water catchment.
How it works
Participants take on the roles of key stakeholders (local government, energy, agriculture & aquaculture, industry, environment and civil society) of a catchment to negotiate and enact how to distribute water efficiently and equitably for different social, environmental and economic purposes.
Working collaboratively, participants negotiate priorities, respond to changing conditions, and develop solutions that balance environmental, social and economic outcomes. The simulation provides valuable insights into water stewardship, stakeholder engagement, systems thinking and cross-sector collaboration.
Participants work to address the varied water needs of community, industry, and environment, while facing challenges of climate change and changing basin conditions.
How to participate
The simulation is targeted at industry professionals, government agencies, water utilities, education and research institutions, and civil society organisations to foster cross-sectoral dialogue and collaboration. It is designed for education, training and capacity development, awareness raising, and team building exercises.
