▶ Nexus Simulation
Experience the Water-Energy-Food-Goods Nexus and how to manage competing needs for water resources in a water catchment.
Overview
An interactive and immersive part of our Training program is the Water Stewardship Nexus Simulation. Developed in collaboration with the Centre for Systems Solutions, the Nexus Simulation offers a unique opportunity to explore the interconnected Water-Energy-Food-Goods Nexus and the challenges of water management for energy and food production in a water catchment.
Participants take on the roles of key stakeholders (local government, energy, agriculture & aquaculture, industry, environment and civil society) of a catchment to discuss and enact how to distribute water efficiently and equitably for different social, environmental and economic purposes.
From this perspective, participants brainstorm and negotiate to creatively form and verify a number of policies, innovations, or collaborations. As they try to meet growing water demands, they have to consider ecological and economical balance within and across borders and sectors.
Participants strive to address water needs of population, industry, and environment, while at the same time facing challenges of climate change and changing basin conditions. See more about the Nexus Simulation here.
